Kendra Augustin is a Florida born and bred, New York based, multi-hyphenate. She was part of the 2022-2023 The Fire This Time Festival’s New Works Lab Cycle 5 where she developed a full-length play, THE BEAUTY OF MY YOUTH IS GONE (BUT THE CHEMICALS REMAIN) which was a finalist for The Leah Ryan Fund 2024 and Bay Street Title Wave 2024.

Her anthology play DEATH IN THE FAMILY received a workshop production at Dixon Place in 2021, co-produced by In Full Color and Dixon Place.

Her short play SISTERHOOD IN THE TIME OF THE APOCALYPSE is published in The Fire This Time Festival anthology

Her short play LIVING CREATURES is published in Technical Difficulties 3.0: Plays for Every Theatre alongside playwrights France-Luce Benson, Quiara Alegría Hudes, Nandita Shenoy, Whitney White, Anna Ziegler.

She has written several short plays including DROPPING THE HANDKERCHIEF (John Desotelle NuWorks Theatre Festival) HOW DARE YOU! (Affirmation Theatre Company, MadLab) DYING IS AN ART (InspiraTO Festival, 365 Women A Year) BLACK STAR (LIC One Act Act Festival) SISTERHOOD IN THE TIME OF THE APOCALYPSE (The Fire This Time Festival) LIVING CREATURES (The Midsummer All-Nighter) THE CALL OF THE VOID (New Perspectives Theatre Company Women’s Short Play Lab) MISMATCHED SOCKS (Open Hydrant Theatre Company) SAVING MR. TURD, THE TURTLE (Brooklyn Friends School) and STRANGER which won best play, best lead actress (Ilana Walker) and best director (Daphnie Sicre) at the Stage Black Festival in 2014.

She was the 2021-2022 inaugural resident of The Bechdel Group's "The Bechdel Test- it's a damn low bar" residency.

She was part of the writing team and wrote episode 6 for the David Davila and Vanessa Rae Lerma web series MOST LIKELY TO which premiered at the 2022 New York Latino Film Festival.

In 2015, she and Patricia Cardona produced The Leela NYC Theatre Festival: a two day play festival that featured seven 10 minute plays -including one by Mario Fratti- at Centro Español de Queens.

The festival continued, sans Cardona, as a guerilla style play festival (Leela Tours The Boroughs) for four more shows at Dixon Place, QED (twice), and Bernie Wohl Center

She has taken improv, character, and sketch classes at The Peoples Improv Theater (The PIT) and The Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB). She has taken Clown 1 and 2 at Brooklyn Comedy Collective.

She wrote sketch comedy for four different teams (The Diva, Electric Mouse, The Dropout Kids, Scrunchie) as part of the sketch comedy collective, Boogie Manja from 2017-2021.

She’s also an actress having studied theatre at Nova Southeastern University. While in New York, she has studied at places like Stella Adler (Summer Con), T. Schreiber Studio (Ume Group’s Summer Physical Theatre/ Devising Intensive), The Shakespeare Forum (Clown, Stage Violence), HB Studio, and Matthew Corozine Studio.

You might have seen her performing around the city at one of these shows over the last few years: Barbara Kahn’s THE THREE-MILE LIMIT as Florence Mills (Theatre for the New City), Kat Mustatea’s THE ONE AND ONLY AMANDA PALMER as Amanda Palmer 1 (Medicine Show Theatre), Michael Sadler’s CODE PANTERA as Jeremy (AMiOS’ Buffy the Vampire Shotz), Liz Amadio’s IN THE ATTIC as Mona (Dream Up Festival), as Donna in FREE SHIPPING EVERY DAY (Axial Theatre) and Peculiar Works Project’s ANDROBOROS as Solemn (Fraunces Tavern Museum), and various UCB 301 Sketch Class shows.
